HAGIWARA PROJECTS is pleased to present dream/water, a group exhibition featuring three emerging artists opening January 10th, 2026.

 

The exhibition explores how sensations, emotions, and memories—often impossible to fully articulate through words or grasp through visible form alone—can emerge through artistic practice. Working across different media and methodologies, the three artists each approach these elusive experiences from distinct perspectives.

 

Manami Igarashi centers her practice on processes of re-production, primarily through silkscreen printing. Using not only paper but also furniture, ceramics, and glass as supports, she investigates the nature and circulation of images. By translating the ambiguities that arise within systems and rules—where reality and fiction intersect—into fixed forms, her work reveals moments of instability that open up new perspectives and interpretations.

 

Mana Nagata reconstructs landscapes that waver within memory. Beginning with sketches and notes recorded in her daily life, she builds a distinctive visual world through combinations of drawing and collage. By visualizing the process through which the contours of memory gradually take shape, her works resonate quietly with the viewer’s own recollections, allowing ambiguous and shifting scenes to surface.

 

Hironari Natsuyama engages with sensations that arise precisely through the absence of language, carefully examining the power of pictorial space and emptiness in painting. Drawing from his belief that attempts at explanation can distance one from the subject, he seeks to distill the universal qualities embedded within painting itself. His works possess a quiet intensity, inviting viewers’ memories and interpretations to linger within a contemplative, suspended space.

Manami Igarashi

Born in Saitama-prefecture, 1999. Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Visual Communication Design in 2022. Currently studying oil painting at the Graduate School of Tokyo University of the Arts. Recent solo exhibitions include “The Shifting Gaze, Samples of Fate” TURNER GALLERY 4F (2024, Tokyo), “Fluttering Windows” engawa (2024, Tokyo). Recent group shows include “Two Steps to the Lamp-lit Cellar” YUGA Gallery (2025, Tokyo), “cozy corner” Tokyo University of the Arts Festival (2025, Tokyo), “U.F.F.U” EUKARYOTE (2025, Tokyo).

  

Mana Nagata

Born in Shizuoka-prefecture, 2000. Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Oil Painting, majoring in Oil Painting, in 2024.

Hironari Natsuyama

Born in Ehime-prefecture, 1997. Completed postgraduate studies at M.A. Painting Department, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2025.
